Head of Moving Image

Full Time

The Canopy’s Head of Moving Image will proactively lead, manage and motivate the Moving Image side of the business. You will have the overall vision and responsibility for Moving Image, establishing and championing best practices to realise The Canopy’s vision for Moving Image and setting the bar for creative and production quality. 

We’re looking for someone with the following;

  • Excels at building rapport and relationships
  • Managerial and operational excellence
  • Ability to listen, persuade, lead, negotiate both internally with our team and externally with clients and partners
  • Creative vision as well as patience and a mechanical mindset to ensure our Moving Image team runs effectively
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • At least 8 years’ experience working within a Design agency or Production house, in a senior creative or leadership role including building a team

Responsibility and skills:

  • Day to day leadership to ensure The Canopy’s Moving Image team is effectively optimised. This includes everything from how communications are handled, how work is scheduled to how team meetings are run.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining budgets and forecasting for the Moving Image team with commercial awareness to ensure profitability is maintained.
  • Identify talent and subsequently the appropriate headcount for your team, recruit and hire, benchmark salaries to ensure market competitiveness, establish employee growth action plans, identify new or necessary hardware and software and implement creative and effective ideas for our physical space.
  • Living the culture. You will embody The Canopy values and demonstrate them each day through your actions.
  • You’ll work with the Moving Image Manager and Creative Director to establish a methodological toolkit for processes and procedures, and make sure it is shared, understood, and implemented throughout the team.
  • Be the primary voice of Moving Image both inside and outside The Canopy, sharing our work, our successes and articulating our vision.
  • Be a champion for your team, challenging policies and processes that limit your team’s potential and identifying and implementing new, more effective practices.
  • Constantly refining and evolving to achieve the creative and organisational vision for the Moving Image team.

Motion Designer

Full Time

Fully embracing our ‘Design Together’ ethos, Motion Designers will provide vital support for one of our most important client relationships. You will become a trusted guardian for our client’s brand, and get to know their design requirements inside-out. You’ll work alongside designers and artworkers internally and with product and marketing managers externally, to deliver distinctive, effective and on-brand motion design. This role requires high levels of problem solving, talent and passion for delivering on-brand visuals, communication and collaboration.

We’re looking for someone with the following;

  • A great reel of exciting motion graphics, demonstrating a keen eye for composition, timing and detail and the ability to work in a wide range of aesthetic styles
  • Experience in working across different brands and categories, ideally with experience working extensively on a high-profile client account
  • An ability to demonstrate a clear link between your conceptual thinking and visual output
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • At least 2 years’ experience working within an in-house brand team or creative agency in a motion design role

Responsibility and skills:

  • Support the client to conceptualise, design and execute dynamic motion graphics, cinematics and animated assets with commercial awareness
  • Develop designs from style frames, storyboards and treatments through to final polished animations
  • An original thinker, able to communicate your ideas both internally and externally
  • Able to take direction from all angles without losing sight of the original brief and goals
  • Expert knowledge of After Effects, Premiere Pro and Adobe Suite

Full Time

Producer’s at The Canopy Studio will provide on-shoot and in-studio support on all Moving Image projects. You’ll be working on quick turn around projects of varying scale and demand, covering all aspects of the production process from pre to post production and everything in between. You’ll be challenged to think on your feet, get fully immersed in each project and have a passion for delivering standout creative.

We’re looking for someone with the following;

  • Excels at building rapport and relationships
  • Un-phased by the fast paced, often ever changing nature of the projects you’ll be working on
  • Positive, can-do outlook and remain level headed under pressure, encouraging the team around you to deliver the best possible creative solution before, during and after shoots
  • Effectively maintain a clear and comprehensive record of all stages of every production project
  • Expert at prioritising and juggling multiple tasks
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Production or Project Management for an in-house brand team or an agency

Responsibility and skills:

  • Support the Moving Image team to organise and manage the smooth running of both photography and video shoots by meticulously coordinating crew, talent, suppliers, subsistence, external freelancers and clients on the shoot day itself as well as pre and post-production
  • Ensure high levels of service and creativity is delivered at all times, both on the shoot day itself as well as pre and post-production, liaising with clients to manage expectations, determine project requirements and deliverables within pre-agreed time frames and budgets, creating storyboards, concept treatments and shot lists as needed
  • Support the Moving Image team in creating project cost breakdowns so all projects can be quoted both timely and accurately 
  • Manage the safe delivery of all post-shoot media and back up of data, using appropriate post-production tools to organise, manage and version projects 
  • Embody The Canopy’s ‘Design Together’ ethos with both clients, freelancers and suppliers
